Drumkinnon Tower, Lomond Shores - Loch Lomond

A focal point for the £60m Lomond Shores development, constructed on the
banks of Loch Lomond.
The new build tower offering spectacular views across Loch Lomond,
designed to be sustainable and energy efficient, minimising the ecological
footprint of this development in a highly sensitive location.
Design solutions included ground source heat pump, underfloor heating, and
displacement ventilation.
The architects aspiration for fair faced exposed concrete surfaces required
detailed co-ordination and close collaboration. Any variations to services outlet
locations after the concrete pour would be costly to rectify and likely to impact
on programme. Conduit drops and outlets were precast into the concrete and
co-ordinated down to the level of fixings to the concrete reinforcing bars.
The building also incorporated a large screen format, 300 seat
iMax cinema. The theatre was ventilated and comfort cooled using
displacement ventilation with displacement terminals concealed behind
the acoustic wall linings. Close control air conditioning was installed to
meet the stringent temperature and humidity requirements of the iMax
equipment.
